WELCOME TO THE GREAT LAKE WALK to be held on the third Saturday of September

The 2008 Great Lake Walk will see three new faces this year. Daneve Fitzgerald, Carrie Hallet and Cindy Manhas will be teaming up to walk in memory of their dear friend and co-worker, Elaine Challborn.
The trio decided to commit to the walk after Elaine's passing in March of this year. After battling breast cancer, Elaine lost her fight at the young age of 47.
During her 15 years at Island Savings Credit Union Elaine made many friends.

"She was always doing things for other people," said Fitzgerald. "Even when she was really sick she was always concerned about everyone else."
"She was a special person," said Hallet. "She was always fundraising for various charities."

When asked what their motivation will be during the 56 kilometre walk, they said, "thoughts of Elaine and the pain that she and others have suffered. Our pain will be mild compared to what they've gone through" -- and many more continue to go through.
When asked why they chose the Great Lake Walk, they responded, "all proceeds go to the charity of your choice." Fitzgerald, Hallet and Manhas have chosen the Canadian Breast Cancer Society as the recipient of their funds.
Manhas said, "Fundraising efforts have been a huge success due to the support of our co-workers, friends and family." The ladies started out by setting a goal to raise $2,000 and to date, they have already raised $4,400, and the total is rising.
"We are determined to ring that bell at the end regardless of how long it takes or how we get there," said Fitzgerald.
The three friends would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and encouragement.
